Default Q: Replacement Tires - Sizes & brands?

Just wondering what everyone is running for tires and what they like? Have the Pirelli P7000 on the car now which I believe are the tires from the factory. Rear ones are just about done. 255/35/18 front and 265/35/18 (probably stock size) in the back. Wondering if I should change sizes, tire brands, etc?? Any info would be great.

I had the Pirelli's on still when i bought the car... I'm currently running Michelin Pilot Sport RIB N1-Spec's in 265/35 at all four corners.

i really like Michelin. I also have some HydroEdge's on my daily driver. But honestly i may go back to Pirelli next time i need tires...

I'm running on some BF Goodrich tires. I forgot exactly which one it was, but they are so nice. I can burn so much, they still look good as new. Also, they look freakishly clean from the back. Trust me, by far the coolest tires I ever seen. Ok, I just looked them up, they are the BF Goodrich G- Force T/A KDW

Drawback to the BFG KDWs is that they can be very noisy because of the aggressive tread design. Continental has their Extreme Contact DW, which is very grippy, but is also a smooth quiet riding tire. Michelin also has their new Pilot Super Sport, it placed on top in Tire Rack's latest tests on max performance rubber. Not cheap, but an awesome performer. The Conti DW is good value for its performance.

cheers

Default I Don't Agree

These tires are very smooth riding, well in my opinion. Look, I'm like a car fanatic, I notice every little thing about every car, and these tires are really smooth riding, durable, and stylish.

I really like the Nitto NT05s. I have them on my Cobra and they stick like spilled soda. They have some road noise though and a treadwear of 200 so they're soft. My Saleen has the original Pirelli P zeros on it and Im gonna replace them with some Nitto NT05s also.

Where did you have them "widened"? Was it expensive? Could the 11's be ran on a Cobra rear end if the flush head bolt is used?

NT05s are certainly great value, especially if you intend on doing some track days. A friend has them on his 07 GT that gets run pretty hard at Mosport, they stand up well to the abuse.

I had them widened at a local place called Craft Machine Works. Here is their website: http://www.craftmachine.com/craft/index.htm. I paid around $175 per rim. They were done in about five days.

They might fit with the IRS, not sure though. I am sure you could check on other forums like SVTPerformance to see what they say about using a 11 inch rim.

Vredestein Sessanta Ultrac's will be my next purchase for the Saleen...
We have them on the mach1 and LOVE them!

Super Quiet! (compared to the BFG KDW2's we have now, teh KDW's are noisy as all h3ll)
Nice ride
Inexpensive
Great design
Good Treadwear

265/35-18 Fronts
295/35-18 Rears

Great reviews here too: http://g35driver.com/forums/wheels-t...ome-tires.html

I just put Bridgestone Pole Position RE050A's on the 99, pretty much 1 step down from the BFG KD's which are discontinued. I had to drop to 285's on the rear since they weren't available in 295's. Otherwise, very happy with them... Light years better than the NT555's I tried a couple of years ago.

DO NOT buy the NT555. These things are CRAZY loud, and are not near sticky enough for even my non s/c. Really good tread wear though.
This fall Im going with Michelin Pilot A/S Sports. I got a set priced for 1600 mounted, balanced, nitrogen, and warranty. Not too bad I suppose.

I have the Michelin Pilot A/S Sports Plus on the front (500 Tread Wear) and I put the Michelin Pilot A/S Sports on the rear (220 Tread Wear). I have 265 in the front 295 rear. The tread pattern is almost identical. If it works out like I think I will be able to replace the rears twice before the fronts once, since I can't rotate. I try to save money any way possible.

Guys, seriously check out the BFG lineup. Same company as Michelin and about half the cost. We run them on all our cars and they are amazing tires. Just my two cents.

Love to put some bigger tires on the back. Pretty sure mine are 18X9 all around. Stock was 18X9 maybe?? Thinking some did come with 18X10 in the rear. Might be a dumb questions but how can you tell what you have without taking the wheels off the car??

my rear are 18x10 saleens and I have had them about 4k miles and show virtually no wear and tear on a hard driver!

Can I run these tires on the rear and still use my Perilli PZero ROSSO's on the front. Only because my front Perilli's are still pretty much brand new, and the rear Perilli's are almost done. Once the front Perilli's are toast ill obviously match the front to the same rear brand of tire. And can I run a 295 on the factory Saleen rims that the 275 tires are on, only asking because BFG doesnt make a 275/40 R 20 in this model tire.

It's not a recommended situation, but if you have to it's ok. Just don't track the car that way or drive too enthusiastically. If you can afford it, buy 4 new tires and save the old ones for spares or burnout tires.

I'm running the BFG KDWs right now and they are a great tire for the price, but I really miss the grip of the Pirellis. The problem with the Pirellis is they just wear out so fast...

I just bought a 2002 S281E #26 in June and replaced the original tires a couple weeks ago. 18,300mi on the Original 9yr old Pzero's. I bought Toyo's (F:265/35, R:295/35) they feel a bit soft but grip good either wet or dry and havn't felt any slip in any curve and I like to run my pony. I have to say the Pzeros seemed to have less sidewall even though they are the same ratio. I am not unhappy with these tires but will probably try out another brand...almost went with the Mich Sports.
