Default New owner: 2008 S281 SC

Hello everyone. A few months ago, I purchased a 2008 S281SC with 26,800 miles. It runs great, but it needs a little love. The interior upholstery on the doors have come unglued and the speakers are blown. I’m also getting a bit of noise from the front passenger side strut. I think it’s an end link but I’m not sure.

The motor runs well. I had to replace the alternator and now the car runs even better. I’ve done some reading on this forum and saw how there may be some belt slip from the supercharger. Can anyone recommend a tensioner that I can install to prevent this from happening? Or is this something I shouldn’t worry about?

Also, I’m noticing some hesitation in the throttle. There’s less hesitation with the traction control off, but I’m not liking it. When I replaced the alternator, I also noticed that the intake was pretty moist with oil from the PCV. I’ll likely add an oil catch can.

Does anyone here have an insight to address these minor issues I’m having? Are the solutions I’m proposing valid, or should I approach them differently? Thank you in advance!

This will help with belt slippage https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j...Uj-fZEll07JBZS. The oil catch can is also a good idea.

I read through some of the features of the idler pulley. However, I’m turned off by the idea that I’d need to have the car retuned. I was hoping for a direct OEM replacement. I’m not looking for a gain in power; I’m looking for retaining stock power.

Where you able to use the OEM belt? Or did you have to go with a shorter one?

Congratulations on your new purchase!

Your 2008 S281 Supercharged is from a somewhat lower production year with a one-year-only seat cover design.

Enjoy your new car!

I used the same belt size, although I did replace it with a new one as mine was showing wear.
