Q: Difference between Saleen 302 & SMS 302?

What's the difference between the SMS 302 and the Saleen 302. There's one on eBay now asking $40K. I
There both 2011 cars.

The SMS 302 was designed by Phil Frank and Steve Saleen. A pair that styled all Saleen vehicles since 1994.

The Saleen 302 was designed by former ASC employee David Byron. David also worked on the ASC/Saleen S55 show car.

Both vehicles are very similar in performance and equipment. SMS vehicles were produced in Corona CA (home to the reborn Saleen). The MJ/Saleen Mustangs were produced by Alternative Automotive in MI.

SMS vehicles were produced "production style" while the MJ vehicles were assembled as individual "show cars." For the most part.

The 2009-2012 SMS vehicles are now recognized as a Saleen. The 2010-12 MJ vehicles under consideration.

How come there's such a difference in price if they are so similar. SMS car on autotrader is almost 56K?

The 2011 MJ/Saleen you are looking at has a sticker price of $58,135.00. The car is currently $40,000.00 after dealer discount.

I think the SMS cars are priced high but have every option on them. I have mine because I got the great trade in on my 06. Other then that I would not have one SWEET SMS..............

Naturally aspirated. This vehicle was produced before the "labels" were announced.

That is one sweet ride. There's also a 2012 SMS vert on there that is supercharged. Asking $76k. That's a bit steep for me. I'd just get the first one for $43k and upgrade it for a lot less than that.

The red 2011 MJ coupe also sold for $37,000.00.

This person got an incredible deal on this car. The MSRP on the car before all the SMS mods was almost what they paid for the completed car. Throw on the ford racing 750 Hp package and you've got a super snake type car for less than $46k. Wow.
