Default 1/4 window black trim

My 2006 original 1/4 window black trim is cracking on the top and on the bottom in almost the exact same spot on both sides of the car. Anyone else had this problem? I hardly ever drive it and when I do its not on a track doing a lot of body flex so I cant figure out what is causing it.

Mine are cracking as well but not bad enough to replace them yet. I'm in So. Cal and I think the temp. fluctuation is finally getting to them.

Everyone ive seen is cracked.

I was looking at Scotts and we were talking about that very issue.
It looks like they used some type of contact cement to hold them
onto the body and not the glass.

Which means when you take them off you may damage the paint.

Anyone successfully removed theirs with no damage...?

Yep, mine are cracked too. I've done some research on removing them and a few people here have, but its no easy task. The reason they crack is because the adhesive used to secure them is not attached to the glass, but to the body. So when you have tempature changes it doesn't allow the plastic trim to expand and contact, thus you get the cracking.

Like Barricade mentioned, we looked at attempting to remove mine, but I chickened out. Not ready to pay that big bill for paint work if they don't come off easily.
