Default Q: 2007 Saleen 302 SC?

Is this a post title modification? I am unfamiliar with this model.

The Heritage 281 came out in 2007 as an entry-level Saleen Mustang. This model made use of some PJ exterior styling. It competed with the Shelby GT.

For 2008 Saleen offered the Heritage 302 and the Heritage 302 Supercharged. The Heritage 302 was similar to the 2007 PJ and made use of some Heritage 281 equipment while once standard PJ equipment became optional. The Heritage 302 Supercharged incorporated a supercharged and 6-speed transmission into the package.

Bob McQueen bought a new 2007 Heritage 281 (eBay car), he then had Saleen (while they operated out of Troy, MI) modify it.

2007 Heritage 281:

2008 Heritage 302 SC:

While viewing the 2007 and 2008 Heritage production numbers, they are very small.

One way of looking the eBay car is... Bob bought a 2007 Heritage and had Saleen Troy update it to 2008 H302 SC specs.

(Except Bob did not spring for the 6-speed transmission.)

If you have any questions on the H281-H302SC #22 let me know; I am the original owner and would be happy to answer any questions. It is a great car.

Traded in on a car I was more comfortable driving routinely; and parking in conventional places; the Saleen was garage kept and only was driven in rain 2X; both to see Steve and get her signed.

Totally agree. Gray with black chrome wheels is a sick combo.

Agreed....I have a 2011 GT 500 that I never drive (1100 miles) and so have started looking to sell and buy something that I will get more road usage out of.

Starting down that path...Thanks Bob for spending some time today telling me about your 302SC.

So the real question is how is this car really classified. Is it a H281 or a H302SC which technically didn't exist in 2007.

Decisions decisions.....

The car is a 2007 H281 by Saleen. These post-title modifications by Saleen Speedlab Troy did not change how this car is serialized.

That is correct; the engine bay tag and the IP tag still reads H281 as the car was born in 2007. It went back to Saleen Troy for modifications including exterior badging denoting the 302SC motor. It has been recommended possibly having Saleen note as a record of manufacture that the car was modified by the then Saleen Troy facility.

The car with original purchase; supercharger; and 302 changes including hood; brakes; Watt link; 302 motor (dual fuel pumps; oversized MAF; heat exchanger; larger injectors) and Rockford Fossgate subwoofer totals over $72,000. There was also the addiiton of black chrome wheels and LED tail lights; mufflers; etc that put it more closer to $75,000. Bottom line is its a lot of car for a little money and was maticulously maintained. Hopefully she goes to a good home.

If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me. Its never combersome talking about the car!

ps. Dave saw the car in Carlisle in 2013. There were a lot of Saleens there!

Yep a value considering the quality of the modifications. It's advertised as a 302SC car......have to think.

A look back at Bob's car.

* http://soec.org/a-look-at-07-0022h-speedlab-302/

* http://soec.org/update-07-0022h-speedlab-302/

Of interest, Bob purchased / took delivery of his H281 with a Series VI supercharger. This pre-delivery addition would be recognized as original equipment in future MCA concourse judging if the proper invoice documenting this item survives.

"If" we can discuss the history of Bob's modifications while at Saleen Troy, there is a chance we can add a "remanufactured" notation in the Team Saleen registry regarding the 302 engine, SC hood, 14" rotors and exterior emblems / decals.
