Default Saleen Watts Link

I never intended to get a watts link, but I stumbled across a new one for about 1/3 of retail and just couldn't pass it up. I have done some research and found that there can be some issues with the Saleen Watts link and I was hoping that I could get some advice on what to do to make sure I don't have any issues. Are there certain bolts that should be upgraded? Any special install tips to make sure it is setup right? Any help is appreciated!

There was a Gen II that fixed the main issues. I think there is a TSB for it on here, otherwise search gen II watts link for the parts that were changed. If it is already gen II you are good to go.

Thanks Michael. UPS will be delivering the watts link to me tomorrow so I will be able to check to see if it is a Gen I or Gen II. The shop I bought it from said they got it in late 2008 so it should be a Gen II right?

Josh,

It should be a Gen II. Just inspect it very often. I know I wouldnt put one on a customers car and certainly not my car. I know lots of people that have had success with the Gen II, but after installing the Griggs unit, I wouldnt look back. And funny enough, LOL, your draining your diff AGAIN! When will you be done with it??? LOL

Thanks Jason. Yeah, like I said I never intended to get one and probably wouldn't have purchased the Saleen version if I hadn't got such a great deal on it. I can practically break even once I sell my almost new adj panhard rod and ford racing diff cover... And yeah draining the oil again, but I planned on it anyway after I broke in the gears.

OK, got the Watts link today. Not sure how to tell if it's a Gen II or not. Appears to have all the parts except maybe a bolt or 2. Can anyone tell by these pictures if it is a Gen II or not?

That looks cheap and I doubt it will work. You should sell it to me....

I think they upgraded the main bolt didnt they? Isnt that where it would break?

I didnt know the watts link came with a new sway bar and links.
Thats kinda cool.

Barricade, I might just sell it to you if you want it. I am not sure if I want to get rid of my ford racing girdle with the bearing cap supports. I just put a tru trac and new gears in and the Saleen watts link cover doesn't have the bearing cap supports. What to do, what to do....

Are you going to drag race or road race?

My car is 99% street driven. I like to take it on the back twisty roads when I get a chance. I will also make 10-15 passes down the 1/4 mile each year.

You should be fine without the FR diff cover.

Watts link installed! Also decided to install UMI relocation brackets while I was at it. BMR panhard bar and Ford Racing cover are now for sale.

What about the brackets? I installed the LCA relocation brackets as shown in the photos.

I would like to get $150 shipped for the cover. There is a mark on the back side (where it mates to the housing) that happened when I was taking it off. Won't affect the seal. I will post pictures.
