Talking

Sweet ride dude!
As always you get to experience first hand the difference between a stock mustang or a mustang with aftermarket parts versus a Saleen product which is tuned from years of racing experience. Night and Day. But until a person actually drives the car many will never understand just how better the saleens are. Most aftermarket buyers will spend thousands on upgrades for parts that dont work together.

There is a way to do it, but finding the perfect setup takes a lot of time AND fully adjustable parts, not to mention in the end you still dont have a true Saleen. which makes all the difference in my book.

Raise your hands, how many times have you been asked... 'IS IT A REAL SALEEN?! or A FAKE!!" Aint it good to say' oh Its Real! alright!"

No matter which way you cut it advertisement in a tough economy is a good thing. Saleen really shouldve advertised via broadcast far often than it did.
Print ads aint bad but it surly has nothing on seeing the product in action.
I would say Over advertising is bad, especially for vehicles as it eventually
puts a bad spin on the product. Like a catchy tune that eventually becomes annoying then a cliche.

I would love to see a comercial featuring clips of the entire saleen history, much on the order of the flash video playing in the background of Steves personal website. To see the original stangs, the victorious mid 90's lemans mustangs and S7's.

Default very cool!

The commercial is good. Interesting that there is a previous generation Saleen Mustang sitting in front of the shop as he rolls by. SMS rolled out starting with the 2010 model, correct? Looks to me like a 2007 or 2008 Lizstick with glass top.

The Lizstick was Steve's daily driver, which is now in the hands of a collector.

Jim D -
Thanks for the reply. Do you know anything about the Lizstick that Steve owned? Perhaps the year? Anything about the collector that owns it now? I'm just curious. I own a 2006 Liz that I purchased from a collector in Houston. Mine has the rear window deletes, I noticed Steve's had windows. I'm always interested in any info I can find out about the few Liz's that are out there. Thanks!

The Saleen Lizstick car was 05-0004 and was an S281 S/C coupe. This vehicle was also one of the first to feature the new Scenic Roof option. The glass roof became a Saleen option mid-year 2006.

The vehicle was originally used for press as well as development purposes. 05-0004 should have replaced 99-0002 S281 as Liz Saleen's demo, I believe.

Steve Saleen purchased 05-0004 before leaving Saleen Inc in spring 2007.

http://saleenforums.soec.org/showthread.php?t=9365

As Tom Glockner filled us in from the 2006 Saleen Dealer Ordering Manual, the window deletes were only offered on the Extreme in 2006 and an optional feature for this model.

In 2007 the Extreme window deletes were an available feature on both the 3-Valve and S/C as well as the Extreme.

So, even though the deletes were marketed heavily with early photos of the Extreme package, they were an option.

Great info, Dave, thanks! Do you (or does anyone) know if there is an insert or aftermarket shade that can be attached to the Scenic Roof? I don't want to tint mine because I like how easily it can be gazed through. However, it gets VERY hot driving around in the sun and sitting at shows. Thanks again for all the great info!
