Default S281 heat from trans tunnel

There seems to be quite a bit of heat coming from the trans tunnel, especially through the hand brake cutout on the center console. The console gets pretty hot as well. Is this normal? Car is n/a 5 speed.

Mine gets pretty warm too. You can check under the shifter boot too for anything allowing heat in.

Ok, thanks. Car is new to me. Original owner had transmission replaced at Galpin, reason being it wasn’t engaging 1srt gear. Just want to be sure that I am not frying the trans.

It’s unlikely, you could check and make sure there’s fluid in it. I’d bet most is coming from the shifter area. Check around there to see if there’s holes. Maybe they forgot or ripped a boot. The shifter boot housing just pops out easily to check. But like I mentioned mine is usually a little warm too

There was a insulator pad that went between the gearbox and floor, I bought one for my race car, I am pretty sure I got through Saleen around 2008-9
Not sure of part number but like most Saleen parts long gone.
There is no reason why you couldn't make one

Tony

I presume the trans would need to be dropped to access the underside of the tunnel... Will get the car in the air to see. Will check on the shifter seal as well.
